On Friday 1st September, 17 students from the Durack School Writing Group participated in the 2017 Palmerston Young Writers Festival at Palmerston Library. Our young writers were involved in workshops with local authors and worked with students from Gray, Driver and Good Shepherd Primary Schools. Many Durack students also entered the Palmerston Young Writers Competition.
Six Durack School students wrote outstanding pieces and won their category or Palmerston Writers Award. These talented writers received prize money, special certificates and a handshake from one of the many distinguished guests attending the presentation ceremony. They were also invited to read in the evening, alongside the adult authors, in front of the Minister of Education, Eva Lawler. Students who read were an absolute credit to our school. Congratulations to all students who participated in PYWF and PYW Competition 2017!
