On Tuesday 6th December the High Potential Japanese group of 5/6 students attended a cultural excursion to OKA Teppanyaki in Parap. The students experienced a variety of cultural foods including sushi with raw fish, tempura prawns and vegetable, rice, teriyaki chicken and stir fried vegetables. All students impressed with their willingness to try new foods and the challenge of eating everything with chopsticks. OKA is a traditional Teppanyaki restaurant where all of the food is prepared in front of you by dramatic and hilarious chefs. The process involved students catching fried egg in their mouths, bowls of rice and we even saw a Japanese butterfly (butter on the end of a cooking utensil flicked at Sensei Glenys). All of the students showed excellent manners and really enjoyed the authentic experience. Many thanks to Mrs Simone Timms who organised the event, Shane Walker who drove the bus and Sensei Glenys who accompanied the students.
