Durack students from Preschool to Year 6 paid tribute to past and current Defence Force personnel at the Durack School ANZAC Day Assembly on Friday 22 April and at the Palmerston ANZAC Day March and Ceremony on ANZAC Day, 25 th April.
The guest speaker was Corporal Kim Dawson with special guests Lia Finocchiaro MLA (Member for Drysdale), Palmerston Mayor Ian Abbott, Ray and Pam Palmer (Families of the Fallen), David King (DCO) and Bob Craven (RSL). For children the highlight of the morning was the tour of the Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle.
The ANZAC Day Assembly would not have been a success without the support of our Defence School Transition Aide, Mrs Helman, and the teachers and staff.
On ANZAC Day students participated in the ANZAC Day March and Ceremony in Palmerston. Even though it was very hot the students marched proudly and focused well during the ceremony thus represented the school well. Mrs Pollock is to be congratulated for once again coordinating the school’s participation.
